Noordhoek is a suburb of Cape Town, located below Chapman's Peak on the west coast of the Cape Peninsula, approximately thirty-five kilometres to the south of the city itself. The name "Noordhoek" was taken from Dutch and literally means "north corner".

It is best-known for its picturesque shoreline and its long, wide, sandy beach, which stretches south to the neighbouring village of Kommetjie. Near the southern end of this beach is the wreck of the steamship "Kakapo", which ran aground about a century ago when the captain mistook Chapmans' Peak for the Cape of Good Hope and put the helm over to port.

Noordhoek can be accessed either from the spectacular scenic coastal road, Chapman's Peak Drive, which leads out of Hout Bay or via the mountain road Ou Kaapse Weg which cuts through the beautiful Silvermine Nature reserve - now part of the Table Mountain National Park.

Noordhoek is a small scattered community of nice houses, often with sea views and has a large horse population as riding on the long sandy beach is a great attraction. Many artists live in Noordhoek.

Farms in this part of Cape Town originally supplied vegetables to ships calling in at Simon’s Town. Farming and small holdings are still a large part of Noordhoek’s appeal today, but wine, organic produce, meat and eggs are supplied to the city’s burgeoning local farmers’ markets instead. Noordhoek lies on the Atlantic coast at the southern end of Chapman’s Peak Drive and is one of the few places left in the city where one can still hear owls hoot at night. Noordhoek has attracted a blend of modest cottages and luxury homes that offer inspiring views over Long Beach, which stretches for over 8 km of wide sandy, unspoiled beach that borders on wetlands and eventually links up with Kommetjie. Locals ride their horses here and the dunes are popular with dogs and children alike.

One can easily reach Hout Bay from here and neighbouring suburbs are Kommetjie, Scarborough and Fish Hoek. The local Noordhoek Farm Village is a great place to pick up organic produce, drop in for breakfast or tea and provides a play area for children.
